Launch of the National Lived Experience (Peer) Workforce Development Guidelines
Please join the National Mental Health Coalition (NMHC) for the launch of the National Lived Experience (Peer) Workforce Development Guidelines.
The National Lived Experience (Peer) Workforce Development Guidelines are intended to strengthen understanding and collaboration across the mental health sector and beyond, contributing to more effective services and ultimately, better outcomes for people accessing services, their families, supporters and communities.
The guidelines will help support the Lived Experience workforce through providing formalised guidance for governments, employers and the Lived Experience workforce about support structures required to sustain and grow the workforce. Although local and regional lived experience workforce frameworks exist, the development of national guidelines will ensure consistency across Australia.
The launch of the National guidelines is a step towards the professionalisation of the lived experience workforce.
These guidelines are the result of extensive consultation and a co-production process to ensure that national standards for Lived Experience workforce development are grounded in the expertise of lived experience. The National Mental Health Commission established a Steering Committee as part of the co-design process to oversee the Commission’s work to develop the Lived Experience Workforce Development Guidelines under Action 29 of the Fifth National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan Implementation Plan.
You can access more information about the development of the guidelines on the National Mental Health Coalition website here.
The launch will be held via Zoom on Wednesday, 1 December 2021 at 11am (AEDT)
